India has a diverse population, with thousands of distinct and unique cultures of all religions and communities present in the country. While many elements of India’s diverse cultures, such as Indian food and philosophy, have a profound impact across the world, the diversity of Indian languages is relatively untold. India has 22 official languages. According to Census of India, the total number of mother tongues spoken in India is 1652, with around 150 languages having a sizable speaking population.
